Saw a Star is Born after hearing all the positive buzz. Very much a let down. Very contrived and couldn’t get into the performances.
Gaga’s singing is okay but no over the top performances. At least Judy Garland’s turn had more dancing!
Found her difficult to watch, expressionless and wooden in scenes.
Bradley Cooper is like Nicolas Cage in “Leaving Las Vegas,” mostly a drunk. Not sure what Gaga sees in him as he turns back (Spoiler alert) to his first love, alcohol very soon after they meet.
Sam Elliott as Bradley Cooper’s Stage Manager and Andrew Dice Clay as Gaga’s father stand in as the emotional and comic relief, respectively. They have the best performances in the entire movie but they don’t get much screen time.
Other reviewers gave this movie, 3 to 4 stars. I don’t get it, sorry.
My review: one and a half stars
