I’m blown away. Stunned. Emotional. The Black is Imminence’s Magnum Opus. It is such a broad change from their past sound yet it benefits them so well. The instrumental tracks such as Le Noir are so well produced and give the instruments of the band a chance to shine. As a music major, this meant a lot to me and I love the three instrumental tracks presented in the album. Eddie Berg’s vocals in The Black is the best work he has put in. After this album, I can safely say he is my top 5 metal vocalists. But if anything from The Black left me speechless, it was the track Come What May. One of the most beautiful and emotional songs I have ever heard. An intense deathcore-like intro with an incredible chorus and breakdown. Then there’s the violin section. Chills. The same chills I got from the vocal harmonies in Continuum. The only nitpick I have is releasing the title track as a single. I honestly think I would have cried if that track was kept to the album and not as a single. Overall, Imminence’s The Black is a Masterpiece of an album. From America with Love. I love you guys. I can only hope three years from now you somehow manage to go even further and top The Black. I will forever be a fan of Imminence.
