Was looking forward to this as great fan of Catherine Tate and it looked interesting. However, straining to hear sound at back of dress circle even after asking to turn up the volume a bit. As for the ending . What was that about? It didn't get going. There were odd amusing moments and lights out in a darkened theatre but if you don't know the story, you still won't after it ends.

Loved it! loved it! Nobody does it better than the wonderful Sir Ian McKellen and with Roger Allam. All 2 hours, flew by and what a memory. They were great and showed that you don't need to have all the sound effects and flashy lighting, when you have 2 consummate actors. It was even worth the battle home through the crowds.

I loved the radio version but the play is a bit childish to watch. Some overacting which was hard to find funny. The guest star has to be a comedian/actor you like and can deliver what can be a monotonous dialogue.
Would think that the likes of Julian Clary, Lee Mack, Jo Brand and a few will give it a badly needed injection of genuine laughter

Mark Gatiss is absolutely superb as Gielgud; his voice intonations and movement fantastic. Love the sets and the way one set dissolved into another.
Didn't have enough energy in this to keep me focussed and sadly I fell asleep before end of first half and couldn't face another hour!
