Every aspect of this true story on film is captivating. All cast members without exception brilliantly portrayed, moments of real humour whilst retaining poignancy. Attention to detail, thoughtful Direction, camerawork, moments of the reality of war, and despair of young lives lost. The scene of a chance meeting with enemy veterans was amongst the most powerful, I can’t speak highly enough about the whole production.
Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson are a match made in heaven, every wrinkle, the look in their aging eyes and delivery of the script, an accolade to their belief in the story and each other.
