I’m 36 yo, mom to 1yo, aunt to 3,3,4,5,8 yo nieces and nephews. I would NOT have shown them this movie had I had a chance to a preview.
Adults are saying it’s great because this movie was made for adults. There are Extremely mature themes in this movie that kids under 10 are not thinking about let alone able to process. Themes like death/loss and healing, bullying and emotional abuse from an instructor, rich Moguls that want to murder you, threatens you multiple times, and then attempts it twice. Plus the Koala who’s supposed to be the the hero lies and steals peoples stuff to get what he wants Fame/Fortune. Not good morals at all.
This is not the cutesy-family-friendly Sing 1 updated like it was advertised. Also the Wolf Mogul had lines like Trump, not so subtle “we are Hollywood” and we’re gonna throw that in because ironically we’re rich moguls and we still hate him.
My 4 yo nephew (who’s been dry and potty trained for two years) wet the bed because he was still scared in the evening after seeing this movie and it negatively effected him.
Proceed with extreme caution for 8-14 yo, depends on their maturity and if you want to have follow up conversations on these themes. For littles - walk away!
