Fortunate Son by Thomas Tibor (there are books with the same title by other authors. Read this one!) captures the turmoil - internal and external - of youth coming of age during the Vietnam War. Tibor gives us multi-dimensional, complex characters trying to make sense of a war and their own lives. You'll know each of them, maybe all of them, and turn the pages with a compulsion to find out what happens next in their lives. Tibor's book is a must read for those of us who were teens and young adults in the late 60s and early 70s, but it will resonate with people of all ages because, sadly, there are always wars and societal, family and interpersonal struggles. Tibor's life experiences make this the book he had to write, and we thank him for it.
