I feel a bit disconcerted after reading the book. If what Paul Theroux said was true, he actually sexually assaulted a Russian girl on the Trans-Siberian Express.
I quote from the book, "Nina showed me her passport and the picture of her mother and, while this was going on, Viktor disappeared. I put my arm around Nina and with my free gand took off her white scullion's cap. Her black hair fell to her shoulders. I held her tightly and kissed her, tasting the kitchen. The train was racing. Bit the compartment door was open, and Nina pulled away and said softly, 'Nyet, nyet, nyet.'"
Nina was a fellow passenger. Earlier Paul mentioned that Sergei the cook ogled at her. Am I the only reader to noticed this transgression?
