A snapshot of middle England showing ugliness at all ends. I both loved and hated reading this book. It is not a difficult read in that it is like a slow-moving car crash in which all of the passengers are categorically selfish, petty and yet you simply can't look away. Rowling's ability to write all too real monsters remains unmatched.
Despite the at some times horrific subject matter, there are still glimmers of hope for humanity. Not for the faint of heart.
