I so wish Colin in Black & White could have been created when I was growing up. When you grow up in my era where you are raised to learn how to adapt, and yet stand your ground to a certain extent. This type of movie could have been a learning tool to overcome as well as cope.
I feel in this era a movie as such allows young people to physically see with their eyes what type of microaggressions can take place and understand what they look like. Also, it will help them to understand systematic racism, overt racism, and covert racism and learn that you can overcome any obstacle that comes your way.
I also like how the adoptive parents were portrayed and the genuine love that they have for Colin and how they also had to learn about who they are as parents and some of the microaggressions they carried and may not have been aware of.
This movie is a must-see and I feel that everyone should not just focus on the NFL/Slavery analogy but what it really truly represents. Please NFL players stop being upset with this analogy and support a man that is willing to go places no other human has been willing to go for a cause greater than all of us. Colin was born for a time such as this. Thank you!
