It was with this series that my appreciation for Wang Yibo first sparked. Despite its noticeable flaws, particularly in budget and certain aspects of production, what I didn't anticipate was the sheer captivation of the lead characters. Ultimately, the lasting impression from a series comes not from its visuals or effects, but from how the characters make you feel, and that, for me, was unforgettable here. This C-drama is incredibly special because, even with its acting and production shortcomings, I found it to be a genuinely feel-good experience that introduced me to an exceptionally talented artist.

This is, without a doubt, one of the most poetic series I've ever seen. The characters literally flirt through verses, exchanging intellectual lines drawn from classic Chinese poetry. Even as a non-expert, I was completely captivated by the leads' banter and their dynamic. Their subtly seductive flirting and regal looks are simply impeccable. I couldn't stop squealing while watching! Both protagonists are wonderfully nuanced "grey" characters, and this C-drama stands out for having a title that perfectly encapsulates its essence.

I intentionally put off watching this series, but two years after its initial broadcast, I finally dove in. And wow, did I fall head over heels! Mark Chao as Ye Hua is just breathtakingly handsome. How can anyone possess such majesty? The Heaven Realm is truly blessed. I thoroughly enjoyed this long series, primarily due to his undeniable chemistry with Bai Qian. "Three Worlds, Three Lives, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom" remains the most fitting title for this wonderful C-drama gem.

This slow-burn romance drama centers on the Emperor's adopted son—a man as ruthless as he is handsome—and a young maiden left behind by her parents due to war. There's an inexplicable pull to Ling Bu Yi that I can't quite pinpoint. Perhaps it's his intense gaze directed at Niao Niao, or his undeniable ruthlessness, or simply everything about him. Beyond the main couple, the supporting characters are incredibly charming, from the Emperor to his consort and the Empress to the FL family, to the second and third ML, they all deliver stellar performances. This series comes in two parts, so if you're ready for an emotional roller coaster with the leads, jump right in!

This is a deeply political series centered on the scarred heir of the annihilated Lin army. His family, far from being honored for securing the kingdom, was instead massacred after a fierce battle. It's a compelling narrative of betrayal, vengeance, and ultimate redemption. The exceptional cast breathes life into every character. What sets this apart from typical wuxia is that our main protagonist wields no martial arts. In fact, he's gravely ill, but he refuses to succumb until he has fully avenged his family and restored the honor of his ancestors.

Spoiler... "A Journey to Die" might have been a more fitting title for this series. It delivers the wuxia elements I crave, featuring one of the most compelling badass female leads. However, the ending left me quite disappointed. And let's not forget the scarred Li Tong Guang, whose obsession with shifu led to many questionable actions. The most impressive character arc, though, belongs to Princess Yang Ying, transforming from an infatuated teenager into a fierce princess of a fallen kingdom. P.S. While I don't mind sad endings, this one unfairly brought down the main characters. Ru Yi deserved to live and thrive, a path far more aligned with her character than that suicide mission.

There's so much to love about this series! Unfortunately, censorship forced it into two parts, released a year apart. This really disrupted the flow for me; part one ended so strongly that my anticipation was sky-high, and the wait and split did affect my overall enjoyment. Still, this remains one of the rare C-dramas I'll hold dear and remember fondly for years to come. Fans of Scarlett Heart might also be interested to know it's adapted from another renowned novel by Tong Hua. It's hard to say what the author's life has been like, but the two novel adaptations I've seen from her are both filled with such profoundly devastating narratives that they've broken my heart more intensely than actual events. They have a remarkable ability to foster deep empathy for each character, allowing you to grasp why they act the way they do. I believe this sets them apart from many contemporary series, which often feature one-dimensional characters who lack the complexity of real people. P.S. This series is certainly a feast for the eyes! While I think Tu Shan Jing's role could have benefited from a more seasoned actor, his undeniable good looks alone, especially when he's just standing there in his fur coat, are enough to make you swoon. And don't even get me started on Xiang Liu, my fierce, venomous nine-headed serpent demon. His "venom" extends beyond words to his incredible power. His love story is the epitome of unconditional devotion, as he selflessly strives for his sole love's happiness, even if it's with another.

I was totally hooked with the badass FL they were trying to sell but I think it fell short on the second arc when they shifted the story to the Yanbie prince (aka the hostage prince). It could have been an epic series but just unable to deliver until the end. On top of everything else, the ending was a cliffhanger of epic, and terrible, proportions, one of the worst I've encountered. Even so, I'd still recommend this for anyone who wants to see the stunning leads, especially ZLY and her outstanding portrayal of the titular Princess Agent. P.S. I've dreamed to time travel to this era just to witness the beauty of the male lead, Yuwen Yue. There's something about his long, gleaming hair when it's loose that I really like.

I remember watching it after it's final run in Korea. I've forgotten a lot of details, but the feeling remains. I haven't cried for any other dramas like I did for Moonlovers. I even had kdrama withdrawal and unable to complete another kdrama series for years. But I guess because of that heart wrenching pain I have suffered, very few dramas manage to deeply affect me anymore. If you can handle sad endings, you may watch this show. P.S. Thanks to MSHR, I rediscovered my love for Cdramas which opens a whole different world that offers variety of genre (especially wuxia) for me to devour.
