The choice was between watching a movie made on a drug addict and a TADA accused (unfortunately idolised by the dumbwitted) Sanjay Dutt or a real Indian great Sam Manekshaw. So it was a no brainer. Went ahead and watched this great biopic on a true army hero and someone who should be held in great stead for his values.
The movie is made in episodes although all such biopics are.
Well directed with two great songs. Especially the one which has the war cry of all the Infantry Batallions. Gives goosebumps. The valour of soldiers and the enormity of tasks infront of the Indian Army is well documented.
The use of Wileys and SLRs and Dakotas makes it as authentic as it could be.
Only Good Up I could make out is the scene in which Sam Bahadur reaches Tezpur wherein the formation sign atop his Jeep has a charging elephant with tail up. (Although correct but it was only adopted in 2019 before which all the formation signs had the charging elephants with tail down) 😁
A must watch for all with some sense of respective the national history and the tough times the country has faced and come out.
Also in times where political influence is deeply seeded in the armed forces, this is a story of a Armyman who kept the organisation safe from such influence.
Also shows the true side of Lt Gen Kaul. For those who know their history he is the man who feinted a heart attack when Chinese were at door.
Overall a great movie 🍿
