I finally got around to reading one of my favorite author's books that contained one of my favorite characters. Unfortunately, it will be my last one. His insistence on injecting his highly partisan views into a work of fiction was completely unnecessary. The plot was decent but slow-moving and had too many descriptive portions about food, wine, and art that went on far too long. Once it got interesting and a bit exciting near the end he found it necessary to interject a subplot that was so politically biased I couldn't finish it. This was my last Silva book. Why would an author risk alienating half of the country this way? I guess he has enough money already and will get no more of mine.
