Gave up after a chapter and a half. Couldn't stand the writing style. I love Bill Bryson, this is like Bill Bryson, but without the interesting anecdotes. Reads like a viewing of a whinging POMs holiday snaps. And contains no interesting explanation of anything technical, nautical, or canine.
