Even though I am by no means any type of cosmic explorer, I felt that I resonated with this movie on so many levels. The aching loneliness, the introspection, the vast chasm of unknown paralleled equally within Jakub and the cosmos outside, the yearning for connection but also pushing it away. I'm not familiar with the original book so this story was all completely new to me but I think it will stay with me forever. The beautiful connection between Jakub and Hanus, so fragile, so endearing, but so pure. I'm not afraid to say that I was definitely moist of eye by the end. I have never been a fan of Mr Sandler but I was blown away by his depth of emotion constrained within a beleaguered tired shell. If this is what he is really capable of then I will definitely watch more of his future work. This movie is for all 'skinny humans'.
