Like a good book, I couldn't put it down. There was something so watchable about this series. It's unique and quirky, which you're not expecting early on, blending Japanese and British beautifully. Where it gets it right is in having enough light with all the shade that is so often missing from this genre. The acting is superb and natural. The one that stood out from the crowd for me was 'Rodney' played by Will Sharpe who delivered his quips as if he was just thinking them upon the spot and was equally brilliant in the more pathos scenes. The whole thing was extremely well written and thought out. I'm hoping for a second season. As for the dance scene - I was not expecting it and it shouldn't work but for me, it does but then I am a dancer so maybe I'm biased. It's different, in a good way and doesn't play safe. Absolutely loved every minute of it.
