Woke . . Just awful . . What a missed opportunity to make something that could have been special . . AVOID!

Since her success in ‘Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy has appeared in some real stinkers and she can certainly add this one to her growing list. The story of the film is utterly ridiculous. Makes no sense and is quite frustrating. A married guy works hard to support his family and arrives home late from work one evening on the evening of his daughter’s birthday so his wife and daughter punish him by walking out and leaving him! . . Makes no sense. The special effects look like they are from the 1980’s. The whole cast are wooden and seem to lack any kind of chemistry. The male leading actor is some English guy who is completely miscast. He has zero humour and just seems to mumble and fumble his way through the entire film. It was truly awful and uncomfortable to watch. What a missed opportunity to make a good Xmas film. It’s time for Richard Curtis to retire if this is the best he can put together now.
