I really wanted to like this one, but damn...it's way too long and just way too Zach Snydery. I was hoping for a return to the director that brought us an amazing Dawn of the Dead remake, but instead we get the overly self-indulgent Snyder who has doesn't understand editing and pace. After a brilliant setup, the movie falls apart. Decent special effects and a clever premise are buried in every film cliche imaginable. By the end of the movie we were having more fun guessing which cliche was coming next than we were having watching the movie. Zero character development and mind-numbing action sequences that go on until you're bored of them. The opening sequence and the inevitable sequel set-up are the only parts of the movie I enjoyed and the only humor in the film. An extra star for the zombie tiger.

What a hot mess. I only gave it two stars because he didn't screw up the few parts of the first version that did work, otherwise this would have been a solid one star. Bloated and overlong and too Snyderesque - and let's face it, he hasn't made a genuinely good movie since 300. The only part of the movie that intrigued me was watching how the exact same scene could play out so tonally different in the hands of different directors and editors. The first Justice League movie isn't much better, but if I am going to watch a version, that's the one I'll opt for as it saves too hours of wasted time. The thing I hate the most about these Snyder films is that he casts amazing people in these roles and they are never given films worthy of their talents.
