The main character is a Contra cheat code and the bad guys shoot like mute stormtroopers.

It was a muddled mess. The villains had the shooting skills of Stormtroopers. All the chases and shooting doesn’t make up for a nonsensical plot.

It would have been impossible for the movie to live up to the hype. It was a fun time and littered with Easter Eggs from not just Barbie - but other cultural touchstones as well. Two stars is due to so much “telling” and not enough “showing” to keep the story moving. In addition to the narrator, it felt like the characters were also narrating and explaining their thoughts, feelings and actions as they went along. Maybe I’m just getting too old for this s***.
