This movie had a cute idea—- first “date”, then innocent comment by a pal taken out of context by Bea. Ben thought initially Bea got up and left with no word. She did go back for the good- by & then heard to verbal slap thinking Ben thought very little of her. From there the story line descends into garbage. Story could have continued in a cute and funny way, but the dialogue could have had a less mass of lewd and rudeness in the script. Having the lesbian wedding and gushing parents who were portrayed as dim-witted and clueless was a slap on adult parents. Granted “Ben”is very handsome and “Bea” has a fabulous body,( the “bathing suits” particularly on Ben’s ex. were pathetically tiny. She could have been topless but that would have to be rated accordingly!), but that is not enough to carry the story. When we cringed hearing more mindless speeches, crude innuendo, etc., after the swimming and beach portion, we turned Netflix off.
When will writers, producers and directors learn that this sort of predictable smutty language and practically nude scenes in movies is NOT funny except to to those who think this stuff is hilarious and enjoy being tintillated? Maybe more than I realize, I guess!!
