Besides the fact that they make the story lines too contemporary and have annihilated the heart-warming effect that this book has had on many readers in the past , the actors stink! They are corny , over-dramatic and unbelievable. Marilla is believable but most of the young actors work too hard at convincing us of their characters . Josie Pie was nasty and out of the blue changed her attitude about Anne . Diana is not convincing as a best friend . It’s painful to watch her talk sweet with not an ounce of believability . Her and Gerry ? Was Gerry in the book ? Aunt Josephine ??? Really???? So many scenes made me cringe . I have always admired the relationship between Matthew and Anne in other series but in this series they DO not display that “kindred spirit” kinship. I didn’t get a kindred spirit feeling watching this series . I was just disappointed in the whole thing ! I wanted to like this .... honest.
