I never read Marvel comics growing up. So I had no information base about Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers and no pre-conceived notions about the film. I knew it was about a female superhero, and I hoped it would be good. Well, it far surpassed my expectations! I LOVE this movie, and will definitely be seeing it again. First, it's very refreshing to see a movie about a strong woman who is more than capable of taking care of herself, but still has a heart and helps others. She provides a very positive role model for girls. But it would be unfair to label this a "feminist" movie. It simply has a very good plot that keeps you guessing and gets you very invested in the story. At one point during the showing, I said to my husband, "She is really powerful!" I am definitely looking forward to more of Captain Marvel! I highly recommend this one.
