It is so cringey! This was a movie where i did not root for any character. The main character worked so hard to become cool and callous after a humiliating high school experience. When he returns, there was potential for a character arch for him yet instead he becomes awkward and tries to be someone that he is not. Chris’ character did not develop. The characters are artificial and not well-rounded at all. The main character kept messing up but when he says one right thing (after many failed attempts,) Jamie falls for him entirely. There were several loose ends including his job, Dusty's fate, and Samantha's fate. This movie overall was overbearingly awkward, but the comedy was pretty good.

Amazing plot and character development. There is a good mix of tension and comedy. I like how this movie empowered women indirectly; that was not her motive- she wanted to save her father. It was a powerful and inspirational movie.

I had high hopes for this movie because I love the original, but they took away all of the best parts: the song "I'll make a man out of you," the grandma, the love interest, and even the fact that she was helping her father. I do not recommend this movie. Watch the original instead.
