"Animal," starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, and directed by Sandeep Reddy, has left a lasting impression on me with its exceptional performances. The film promised violence and delivered it in a manner that truly justified its presence. Despite encountering occasional issues in the action sequences, I must acknowledge that they were of top-class quality compared to other Bollywood movies.
Ranbir Kapoor's acting was nothing short of spectacular, a sentiment I share even as someone who is not a dedicated fan. Rashmika Mandanna's performance also stood out, showcasing her talent admirably. The emotional scenes in the movie resonated with a sense of reality, a quality I appreciated greatly.
However, a notable drawback for me was the seemingly unnecessary scene where Ranbir's character had to make the girl fall in love to extract information. To me, this particular scene felt out of place. Nevertheless, I commend the director for not portraying it wastefully.
One significant criticism I have is the overpowering presence of Ranbir Kapoor, which unfortunately overshadowed the performances of other actors. It's essential for Indian directors to recognize that while heroes play a crucial role in the narrative, they should not be the sole focus. I found myself yearning for more screen time for actors like Bobby Deol, whose small yet impactful scenes I thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, due to an excessive focus on Ranbir's character, the development of other characters took a backseat.
In conclusion, while "Animal" offers a gripping narrative and outstanding performances, it would have benefited from a more balanced portrayal of characters to allow the entire ensemble cast to shine.
