This will be the last Far Cry I pre-order. Ubisoft has a cut and paste system for every open world game they have anymore. Be it Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed, or Far Cry each game follows a similar formula and you get similar results.
The good - The world is beautiful, lots of detail to see, but unfortunately the way enemies constantly spawn on you, you have very little time to see it. The huge amount of guns is nice, even though the customization for each is about the same for each. The companions are really neat, love little Chorizo, even though they're kinda useless.
The story, game play, and ease of this game is what makes this a failure. The island is split into 4 zones. Three owned by generals and one owned by the big baddie, in typical Far Cry Fashion. The problem being, after just one zone you are fully kitted out. You can pop literally any enemy in the head once and immediately kill them, and this is in action mode. A single shotgun blast can take out literally all but one of the "tougher" enemies.
The missions themselves are repetitive and boring. The general formula is travel somewhere and clear out enemies. It's an old fashioned RPG fetch quest but instead of fetching you're killing.
The story is horrid. In typical Far Cry fashion they put so much work into the bad guy. They made a great, almost likeable, bad guy, but that is it. The story was fast paced and you didn't form any connection to anyone. As "major" allies die you literally feel nothing. Your interaction with them is so shallow and short. The ending was also wretched. It made little sense and there is only ONE ending (other than the secret ending in all Far Cry games.) You have no choices that impact the story whatsoever throughout the entire game. In fact, you only have one choice at all throughout the series and the only thing it affects is the mission reward. There isn't even any dialog pertaining to your choice.
