The low reviews seem to indicate the reviewers didn’t see the whole season. If you enjoy sci-fi, excellent actors, good writing, and stage plays, you’ll like it. It really evolves so you need to get past ep1-2 because those are a bit slow and don’t reveal much. But when the storytelling kicks in— it’s great.
The characters, cast perfectly, take a philosophical deep dive into AI vs human issues as well as what humans need to find meaning. Can we be isolated and survive or are we meant to live in communities?
Lighthouses are such a metaphorical romantic symbol of searching for help in a storm, and this series uses it to ask age old questions. Are we better off scattering ourselves in the universe using advanced technology, or does it put us back to square one? What is it we are all searching for?
Bottom line-the story was excellent. It’s low on action, although there is some. It’s why we love Star Trek. It’s about the human condition.
