Best season yet was season 3. While the show takes some liberties deviating from the book, the characters really develop this season and I have lived for every moment. I was shocked and hooked at many moments and I can't wait for a season 4. The special effects have been perfect for what I imagined having read the series several times. I do recommend that everyone read the books because it will help fill in some details. Actors are great and represent their characters extremely well. Great directing and acting all across the board.
