4.75/5 stars. An almost perfect adaptation of the storytelling from the manga and OVA. Sure, not as many big action set pieces with clanging swords and parrys galore, but the ones that are there are fantastic, and the rest of the action perfectly serves to show just how efficient a killer Kenshin is at this point in his life. Acting and writing were all top notch. The ONLY reason this doesn't get a 5/5 from me is that Taku Iwasaki's score from the OVA is too high a bar to reach, and the surprising lack of soundtrack in this film made scenes feel a bit too slow and emotionless at times for me.
Still. Absolutely fantastic movie.
