It’s sad that it took so many years to bring some level of justice for this child. It’s a shame that from the 60s on law enforcement didn’t care when children went missing, just as when a child reported abuse they were handed back to their abusers. It’s a shame that both parties weren’t held responsible but still in this day, our justice system does nothing for the act of complicity. I’m glad that a few people continued to drive the case over the years. Without them, she likely wouldn’t have had any justice at all.

This is a great film. It’s well cast and captures many realities of the time. Watching the film brings back awful memories of the outward misogynistic behavior that was common and creepy with 99.9% of males in the age range of 15 years old and up. What is very fortunate is that the actual woman who was on the show was strong and wise enough to walk away from him, saving her own life. Because especially during this time, women could only count on themselves. Law enforcement did nothing and couldn’t care less. Not that attitudes have actually changed, they’re simply quiet about their women hatred. And it’s still pathetic. Anyway, that is the catch and release system that allowed him to murder upwards of 120 plus women. That’s a difficult fact to deny.

I hope someday they determine what happened to Jennifer. Watching the outcome of hurtful actions and the family gang mentality towards Jennifer’s mother was disgusting. It doesn’t take very long to realize she getting thrown under the bus. When you’re so desperate to lay blame your last resort is a hypnotist! That’s well beyond reasonable. Personally, I would like to know how the missing file found its way into the record’s storage room after it had been searched for 3 times prior to it’s magical reappearance, and they don’t disclose if any information was missing from the original file. Plus, they don’t disclose who had access to the records room on the final search and who had a family member that went to school with Jennifer. They also don’t disclose if telephone records were pulled from the home for the time surrounding the disappearance, which is key to whom Jennifer was talking to. There’s so much that isn’t mentioned it’s difficult to watch this series as anything but a horrifying attack on mommy & daddy. And yes, daddy’s issues are serious but deciding who’s guilty and building a case around assumptions isn’t justice. My belief is her disappearance, whether her own choice or coerced, was assisted by someone she knew. Likely a classmate and wherever she went, her plan turned out badly.

This is a fantastic documentary. Negative posts are the very type of people that gaslight victims of domestic abuse and rape. The beginning of the documentary shows how a dominant broken brain can silence and traumatize humans for decades when gone unchecked. For the rapist & abuser sympathizers you should know that when numerous victims survive the same trauma by the same violent attacker, they’re not making up stories. The documentary shows the depth and reach an abuser will impact human lives and the natural desire and need a family goes through to heal together. Courage and hope for this family. My only complaint is the Amazon HBO Max app plays the 2nd episode in Spanish only so I had to read the subtitles. Hopefully they’ll get that fixed because I would like to hear the actual conversation rather than read the reduced version.
