Just because you can do things in CGI doesnt mean you should.
The stage costumes are far superior to the effects on CGI, doing stage costumes with added cgi for tail and ear movements would have been far more effective.
While some of the scene and movements (I wouldn't call it dancing) are a good nod to the proper Cats, most is awkward, clunky and just not watchable, and why cast some people that arent singers are just a testament that the director is riding it for the cash than actually wanting to make a cinematic rendition.
There's a stage filmed version from the 90s/00s, go watch that instead, or treat yourself to the theatre for the real thing.
