A co-worker said it was trash but I go into every new movie with low expectations, including this one. It was good, not great, but no major gripes outside of the run time. A movie with as many subplots as this one needed at least another 30 or 40min. The first 45min are a bit of a crawl but they really hit the gas in the second half, which wouldn't be so bad if there was more set up and more time. Still a good watch, even if you're just watching for nostalgia. Definitely not trash

This was a very well-told story about a young woman who knows what she is but is struggling to remember WHO she is. Marvel did a great job at multitasking, showing us Carol's past as the movie progresses rather than going back and forth with flashbacks. Her budding relationship with Fury felt a little rushed but there really isn't much else we need to know about them that Fury didn't cover when they had their first sitdown. Goose the cat was a great piece to the puzzle late in the film but I wouldn't go so far as to say he stole the show. Captain Marvel wasn't a perfect movie, and I wasnt expecting it to be, but there weren't any glaring weaknesses. There were a few very noticeable changes from the source material but they were very smart and thoughtful changes, some that are clever connecting pieces for past MCU films and future films as well.

I'm not going to write a 5 million word essay about why you should or shouldn't see this movie. Instead I'll summarize by saying it's just another predictable superhero movie with very little depth and originality. I'm 35 and I've seen virtually EVERY superhero movie there is and Aquaman doesn't stand out, even with millions of dollars worth of CGI. If you're a comic book fan it's worth a look for novelty sake but it has no replay value and only rookie moviegoers and casual comic book fans in general will see any real value in this movie.
