The always beautiful and endearing Audrey Hepburn does a pretty good job of portraying the pull towards her own people whom she finds beautiful, shocking the neighbors, against the pull towards those who raised her and whom she loves as anybody would, who'd been stolen as a baby. Until the end you don't know which side she will choose. Painful movie but shows the contempt in which the Native Americans were viewed back in the day., even towards the one who had been raised as their sister. For this reason alone an important movie. But hard to listen to the awful racist phrases. One wishes the Indians would've been more fleshed out and their own conflict more fully demonstrated between wanting their sister back peacefully and forced, in the end to fight for her; almost a symbol of everything else they have lost to us, the invading and occupying Europeans.
