As a show that hails itself as female-centered and that has a woefully misused the talents of rachel bilson to spout bloated lines about the "patriarchy" it fails to live up to the values it expresses. Women dont have hairless armpits/legs after a 'month' of living in the wild. The plot is basically a rip off of maze runner, except assigns the requisite trope of a backstory to its leads... with a healthy dosage of liberal ideology and monologues about how being homophobic is "uncool" (*spoiler alert the uptight christian girl is secretly GAY! Gasp!) There's a scene where a woman goes off on a research study group for being vapid - for acting in line with the worst of female stereotypes, if only the shows writers could learn to take their own advice. The show may be targeted for the YA audience but no way am I letting my teen watch this trash. Rachel Bilson is still hella brilliant but the role offers her no opportunity to show the nuances she brings to her other character... the role here offers her a single note, a shame.
