Beautiful cinematography. Amazing, amazing job by Phoenix. Not shallow, pretentious, or far right like other reviews have said. Good representation and commentary on mental illness, society, and government. And while yes, the movie is absolutely brutal violence wise, I believe it was essential to guarantee viewers don’t end up sympathizing with joker or mistaking him for a victim. Overall, very well done. Hype was worth it- you just have to be prepared for the gore.
