I read all the books numerous times, I can't even count anymore, the books are amazing! When I watched the movie, it was okay, but I was sad they didn't continue making them. When I watched the show, I couldn't have been more disappointed, even from the first episode everything had changed. The acting is terrible at most parts, the plot is totally different than from in the books, and every single episode has nothing to do with anything that went on in the books except for the names! There are many new characters that weren't even mentioned in the book, and some of the characters that were in the show from the books had different endings, like Jocelyn dying when she didn't actually die in the books, I could go on. Another thing is the ending of the show. The ending in the books was great, it made total sense, it was good for both the plot and the characters in the series. First, to start out with, the characters' personalities changing affected the whole show for the worst. In the books, (spoiler alert) Simon is the one who takes the fall for everyone, everyone gets sent back to earth, including him, and they're all safe, except that Simon loses all his memories of Clary and everyone and everything about the shadow world. After some time, Isabelle and Magnus help him get his memories back and he becomes a Shadowhunter eventually, I think that was an amazing ending. In the show, Clary kills Sebastian (called Jonathan in the show), which she did do in the books, but in the show Clary killing Sebastian eventually causes her to lose her memories of Simon and the shadow world. It was a sad ending, I'll give them that, but when someone says they're making a show about a book series, MAKE THE SHOW ABOUT THE ACTUAL BOOKS! I do no recommend this show to anyone who liked the books, you will be VERY disappointed if you watch this very horrible, terrible, no good tv show.
