Growing up with The Iron Giant will give you a sense of nostalgia when you watch this film. It’s everything I wanted and everything I needed out of another dystopian robot animation (as there has been many) and honestly, some of the recent ones missed the mark for me. Mommy issues will definitely heighten the experience. The score is undeniably some of the most intensely emotional shit to have been produced since Interstellar. And can I say how perfectly it fits the theme of the film? Because I will and I am and holy crap the score is good. Go watch it now.

I really want to give this show at least a 4 star review, but after watching Godzilla Minus One, I believe we need to put these big production companies to a new standard when it comes to handling drama and humanity in the Monsterverse. Compared to Minus One, the humans in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters are one dimensional, bland, irritating, and I quickly skip any scene with over a minute of the now (episode 4-6) dreaded terribly boring dialogue and writing. The modern storyline is also incredibly unbelievable and the characters' obvious plot armor makes any threat Godzilla holds irrelevant. The writing when the modern day characters teleport around the world looking for monsters without much of a scratch of an injury is childlike at best. If you want to go for a more serious tone in a Godzilla feature (as opposed to more campy, like Godzilla vs. Kong, which I fully enjoyed), I will put your feature in full comparison to Minus One. As of episode 9, I’ve changed my review to 3 stars.
