This is one of the best movies of the decade, showing the emotion that comes with being a human, and the vulnerability of being a man. In this thriller, we meet our young hero, Tyson. As he walks the fields of his home, he encounters a blue snail. He decides to take him home, only to release him shortly after. As he awakes in the middle of the night, he sees that snails are entering his home, only to turn him into a snail.
Tyson, now snail, needs to show the world that he's human, so he competes in the NBA. Though winning the grand prize, a human transformation-station, he realizes the specialty of a snail, and decides to stay that way, only to die of salted french fries shortly after.
While a very absurd sounding story, David Soren manages to make do with what Dreamworks gave him. and delivers a excellent movie. The way that Tyson, later Turbo, deals with loosing the human side of him makes an impact, delivering on a emotional experience unmatched.
I would like to highlight the main song, 'That Snail is Fast'. On the surface, this is a very generic song capitalizing on the modern style of music. However, this song is meant to be a represent how, much like humans, a snail struggles in life to achieve the impossible, and for a snail that is being fast. Lines such as 'Woah that Snail is fast' shows us that that snail is fast. So, when Tyson, now named Turbo, decides to stay a snail, it creates more of an impact, as he knows that this is what he's been working for the entire movie, however he's content with the life of a snail.
If i had to give criticism, i feel like the snail sex scenes were too short, and i would've liked to have seen more of it. And the Nostalgia Critic theme playing as the credits roll was really distracting, however it doesn't give a huge hindrance to the overall enjoyment.
I believe that this movie will be fondly looked upon in the future, much like Dreamwork's other movies like Mad-Gas-Car and MegaMan.
I give Turbo a 10/1
