Not a Tony Soprano origin story. Tony is a peripheral to this story. Outside of the cliches and the mocking portrayals of characters later to come, there really isn’t much of a story. I read something about mental illness being addressed in this movie - it was not, a pamphlet was shown thats about it. The movie failed to develop Tony’s mother’s character and did a poor job of demonstrating her as mentally ill. It was uncompelling and the acting was atrocious. I wonder if Gandolfini had in his contract that if there was ever a reboot his son had to play him? Because I can see no artistic or professional reason for his son to be in this movie other that. The story revolves around Uncle Dickey the actor seemed more suited to play Cuomo if they ever make a Governor Gropeo movie. I wasn’t sure if Ray Liotta was playing a parody of himself from Goodfellas or later on a Parody of Thanos from MCU. The only bright spot in this movie is Uncle Junior, he was believable as the character from the series. But he is a professional actor who I have seen in a zillion other things. Other than that- meh. Watch it for yourself- I would say it was better than that horrible “Irishman” on netflix but only because it wasn’t as long. We just have to face the facts, cinema as a whole is no longer an art and good story telling seems to be a thing of a bye-gone era.

Spoiler Free Disappointing... The destruction of Marvel cinematic universe was not done by the hand of Thanos... it was done by the many hands of Marvel. There were some great scenes in this movie, although it was disappointing it was still entertaining. But there were also many unneeded, contrived scenes as well. The movie could have been a half hour or more shorter. For some reason we live in era where the length of the movie has become synonymies with greatness... There were many scenes that greatly contradicted everything we know about the stones from previous movies including Endgame. The direction the movie went, in hindsight, seems more like a money-grab. The previous movie could have ended and tied things up more similar to the true canon of the books instead of continuing on what some may think was an endearing path to tie up the MCU. Closure. I guess you could say you get closure from the film, I did not. I felt in many ways that the ending was anti-climactic and the climax was delivered early on in the film. I have been reading marvel since I was a child and have seen every film, usually twice in the theaters. The last Marvel flick I saw twice was Spiderverse which I loved. I was disappointed by Endgame... I imagine no-one else will admit this, but I will.
