Everyone who has left a scathing review clearly has never been a teenage girl. I was shaking throughout the whole second half because of how real the horror is. This movie starts out with the more shallow issues that come with being a woman: censorship in schools, sexualization of teenage and young girls, and toxic relationships. I’ve heard some critics say that it covers too many topics but the thing is that these topics are all interconnected and can all affect a single person. It is truthful. Things are then intensified when the town dissolves into a purge like state. Mob mentality kicks in and the most ignorant are the loudest. The cops who are supposed to be upholding lawfulness are at the head (sound familiar). Victims of torture and sexual assault, the four girls don’t even take revenge they simply defend themselves from the men who blame them. This movie is artfully done and frighteningly close to reality and I absolutely love the cast. Would recommend if you are looking for some girl bosses but not if you have troubles with any on the many trigger warnings in the beginning.
