The CBS morning show is the lowest in the national mornings ratings and is easy to see why. First of all they saw fit to rip off the music and the symbolism of the much loved CBS Sunday show in an attempt to gain some of the Sunday show's credibility and audience.
I tire of sports figures making the move into the news department. It usually signals the emphasis on celebrity pandering and an over-dependence on big sports names. Nate is an okay addition with some flashes of true insight that he contributes, but I miss the intelligence and perception of John Dickerson and the enthusiasm and personality of Anthony Mason. Tony is okay, but very bland and does not stand out either in terms of presence or professional news quallity.
Finally, there is Gayle. I have thought she was okay in the past few years, but Gayle is now the reason that I am moving on to another morning program. She constantly is interrupting her colleagues and guests as they're speaking and she's always drawing attention to herself with references to who she knows and her relationships to A listers. Obviously she is considered the "lead' of the show by the network execs both in terms of salary and air time, but the constant attention she demands on the show is a distraction from the credibility and effectiveness of the news format.
Goodbye CBS!! I have watched CBS News for most of my life ( I'm 68) but the current crop of many of CBS news on-air staff have become unwatchable for me. And don't get me started on the dismal Nora O'Donnell on the CBS Evening News who doesn't even come close to the credibility that Jeff Glor had. Too bad.
