One star has nothing to do with female characters and LGBTQ at all. The rating is due to the fact that they killed the main protagonist in the first act. Joel was beloved and to use his death as the backbone of a revenge plot is lazy and disrespectful to the fans who bought this on the first day because they teased Joel being part of the game.

What happened under Obama with the government listening in on people and doing this exact same thing is far worse than companies trying to target ads at you. Both are wrong, but when the government does it it is much more wrong. If you ever paid for an ad on traditional media you know that most people listening or watching don’t care at all about what you’re selling. Facebook and others allow you to select your target market and focus your ad dollars at the people who actually would be interested in your product or service. What purpose does the NSA or CIA need with your digital profile? Sure, let’s catch terrorists and such but are you comfortable with your government making lists? Whenever list have been utilized, again with Obama, they don’t end with upholding individual freedom and expression. They don’t end with due process. This film could have been waaay better if they didn’t turn it into a Trump hit piece. I shouldn’t have to do this, but I will, I really dislike Trump. I am not a supporter. He is crass and seems content at fomenting unrest. However, when you make a documentary, particularly on with a “this is why Trump was elected” lens, I tune out. Trump touched on the anxieties of many people and gave them an over simplified solution. Everyone else was giving a well thought out solution in terms which were difficult for non-political types to understand.

The plot was all over the place and the original characters were mostly forgotten.
