I’m 24, it’s been a while since I’ve read the books. I do remember the books (I read them back in middle school) so that right there shows you who your audience is and how long it’s been since the book releases. I will say there is nothing wrong with the acting besides it’s entry level at most (that could also be to blame on the script writing itself). It did seem that the budget for the show had a lot to do with its potential to stay afloat. This is a series and I’m not at all disappointed or upset with the extra content they had to add to create substance, but a few things that are just so beyond looking past that I have to address - at the risk of sounding cynical- is first the casting. QUIT trying to desperately showcase how diverse you can make something by casting every ethnicity you can think of on the spot. Quit trying to force awareness on gayness. It’s literally such a small % of the worlds entire population that it’s almost nearly impossible that your going to run into the real world with an Asian, a black, a white, and someone who’s gay as your “norm” group of friends. I’m gonna say what everyone is thinking, but no one read this book with an Asian as the main character in their mind, I don’t say that as a racey comment I say that as an obvious statement that the Hollywood directing industry is trying so desperately to stay relevant by including every damn variety and flavor of a person that they can get and fail to notice how poor everything comes together on camera. Draw with too many colors and you’re bound to come out with something that looks like throw up.
Just the most cringing show ever. Every scene was a cringe with all it’s woke agendas to stay so 2022. They shot this show with a Los Angela’s or NYC vibe instead of preserving its soooo obvious southern setting.
