I'm usually very lenient of movies and don't do reviews, even if they don't meet my expectations, etc, but this movie just didn't grab me at all. It was fun to see it remade, that was it. The cat was stupid, not spooky and haunting as hell like the original. Elle to talks too much, aware she's undead, and just not very scary. Mom's crazy, like certified. Nothing was fleshed out very much which made everything seemed pressed. I did like the fact Judd brought the wendigo lore into it, and the parts where you can actually hear it add to the overall spookyness of the movie, but overall, it was just so pressed. The truck wreck scene wasn't nearly as horrible or heartbreaking as the original, so most of all the elements the original brought to the table are gone, and the jump scares just suck. I know it's hard to make a King remake, but they did a WAY better job with the new IT movie. This one, not so much at all.
