This is the single greatest film ever made. Shakespeare wants what Steel Magnolias has. Julia Roberts is stunning. Sally Fields is incredible. Dolly Parton is awe-inspiring. Miss Shirley Maclaine is a goddess, and let's not forget the inimitable Olivia Dukakis and amazing Daryl Hannah. I'm convinced that if you do not sob like a little baby after watching this movie you are not in possession of a human soul. There is not a single thing wrong with this movie. The clothes. The hair. The armadillo cake. The music. The accents. THE HAIR. Most importantly, Steel Magnolias showcases Queen of the Universe Dolly Parton doing what she does best, which is everything. In addition, this movie shows us Julia Roberts in her prime-big hair, big smile, and big heart. People who say this movie isn't good probably don't understand the meaning of sisterhood or family, and frankly, I feel sorry that you'll probably die alone. Actually, I don't feel sorry for you, because if you don't think Steel Magnolias is the single greatest piece of storytelling in human history, you don't deserve to live. There is nothing else that comes close to Steel Magnolias. Nothing. And that's on Shelby. God Bless America.
