8/10: Re:Creators was an excellent accident for me. I stumbled across a clip in my youtube recommendations and watched it with my boyfriend.
The premise of the story is fairly novel. Not the traditional isekai that a lot of people mistake it to be. Its a fresh and interesting commentary on the Anime/Manga/Video game community as well as the people who create the media. I really enjoyed the cast of characters, even Sota who might on the face seem like an annoying background character. The analysis of what it means to be an artist (or creator) is good and relatable. It's also great to see such a good understanding of character archetypes from all types of media. The charm of this show is seeing how those archetypes hold up outside of their storybook settings in the real world. It shows the beauty of the characters and why we love them so much.
The bad points are there is a lot of talking exposition in a lot of places. This isn't damning or anything but I feel like the action scenes can feel a little weird sometimes because Meteora just talks for 5 minutes to explain things to the cast and audience. There could have been a better way of doing this. Another thing that some people may not like (but I actually loved) was that this show is a bit of a circle jerk for otaku, mangakas, and the like. It is laughable at times how those little fandom things are being applied to "save the world". It may come off as silly to some people and ingenious to hardcore fans.
Other good points is he soundtrack. Loved all the music for this show. Character development was also on point and relatable. Pacing was a little weird in some places but eventually leveled out. Hopefully they leave the ending where it is. The show ends on such a good note. I hope they don't drag it out.
I'd recommend Re:Creators to anyone who enjoys a lot of anime like media or any struggling artist. It's a good show and very enjoyable.
