As a comic book fan, and a huge nerd on everything DC, this movie definitely delivered. From stunning visuals, to gorgeously filmed fight scenes, this movie had it all. Jason Momoa’s performance as the Aquaman sells this film, showing almost a coming of age story for his character. Not to mention the stellar supporting cast with the likes of Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, and Willem Dafoe. For me, it shows that DC has the potential to make a great film. I had lost faith after last year’s disappointing Justice League, but this movie has given me a new found faith in this universe. Overall, it’s easily an 8/10.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, probably the most hyped movie of 2016 (second only to Captain America:Civil War). While this movie follows one of my favorite Batman storylines ever, it simply doesn’t work how it should have. The movie tries to be a launchpad for a DC cinematic universe by including cameos by everyone’s favorite DC heroes,like The Flash and Aquaman for example, but just doesn’t work in all areas. While the film has strong performances by all actors except one (I’m looking at you Jesse Eisenberg.) It’s not enough to help save this film. Not only does it try to set up a huge cinematic universe, but it also teases the team up of the Justice League and the infamous villain Darkseid. This is too much for one movie to handle, thus creating a sloppy mess that is Batman V Superman. While I do enjoy every second that our main heroes are on screen, I have to say I wanted to throw up every time I saw Lex Luthor. While his lines aren’t necessarily bad, his character is written as an insane psychopath that seems to be inspired by the Joker for some reason. This was my biggest problem with this film. Overall it is about a 6/10 for me. While it is a sloppy mess, it is visually stunning and overall a decent comic book movie.
