I loved all the nods to the original. Yet this still has it own spin which prevents it being a 'by-the-book' entry to the franchise. Most of the cast are quite young but they carry the film well. I could mention one major plot spoiler that connects this film to the original but I won't. Let's just say, if you were there at the very beginning you'll know immediately what I mean when you watch this. Well worth a viewing.

Even though a massive part of the plot is shown in the trailer, this is still worth paying money to watch. The two female leads are excellent as are the young child actors who play their respective offspring. The setting, fashion, cars and detail of the period in general are impressive. Retro fashion enthusiasts will love the clothing on show. The story centres around every parents worst nightmare but makes for compelling viewing. It ramps up the tension in each scene until its shocking conclusion. If you love well-acted drama then this is one you should make time to see.

I had high hopes for this film. The trailer makes it look like a grown-up, big screen version of Horrible Histories. The cast list is impressive so it appeared a sure thing. Sadly, the reality of it is very different. I kept waiting for it to move up a gear but sadly it never does. Also, I don't understand its need for a 15 certificate (apart from some swearing, perhaps?). The only scene that is laugh-out-loud involves the leads trying to dispose of a dead body from a great height. Had the film been more along this line it would have been far funnier. Its a real shame when you consider the talent on-screen who all have major t.v. & film credits. One to avoid I'm afraid.

In the past I've found myself disappointed by critics raving about how good a film is. I'm happy to say that this one is the exception. Both hilarious and deeply tragic in equal measures. The performances of the two actors - Gleeson & Farrel - are exceptional. The supporting actors are a credit to the story. Even the animals in this film will tug at your emotions. Well worth a watch. You'll find yourself recommending it to other's.

When I first heard Martin Freeman was in town filming a new drama, I - like many others - got excited. I like Freeman. He comes across as a 'good egg.' However, I did worry how he would get to grips with a Scouse accent . Many other actors had said it's probably the hardest to master successfully. I needn't have worried. From the opening minutes of this drama, I forgot I was watching an actor. The pace, the script and the talent on screen made this a delight to view. So much local talent in one place. Freeman should get an award for his realism in the role but most of all for achieving the hardest part: his accent. Please let there be another series.

I was late to the party here. I joined at the start of Series 6 with no clue to the references from the previous 5 series. Still, I was engaged by it immediately. Great writing and convincing characters. Before the end of S6 I went back to familiarise myself with everything that had gone before. I'm on the fence a little with the ending but wouldn't have missed any of it. I hope this isn't the last we've seen of AC-12.
