This book is clearly a money making sham. The narrative voice is inconsistent and the plot and character development take a steep decline after Kya grows up. The author had no sense of individuality amonsgst characters to the point where they blended together. The diglogue had no distinguishing features causing every character to sound the same. Yes, the imagery was beautiful but again only when kya was a child. A loose and terrible thread of biological metaphors were haphazardly thrown on the pages. The trial had no climax, no cross referencing of character witnesses like Tate, jumpin, and mable who would certainly have been called to the stage. Owen provided no emoticonal connection between kya and the readers and even less between her and Tate. This story is unbelieveable and sloppy and requires the reader to slash and burn the prose in hopes of unearthing a new bud of brilliant insite into human nature. Owens completely dismissed the importance of threading a consistent universal truth through her lines. As a result her readers see nothing of themselves amongs the grasses of the marsh causing a disconnect between reader and story.
