Alex had already created a masterpiece with his debut novel The Silent Patient. It was one of the best thriller novels I have read and one can’t go backwards after creating such a masterpiece. Hence, if you compare it with his first book it’s a bit of a disappointment. Had this been written by a new writer or a debut novel it would have been good. Also the book concerned more on the character justification rather than being suspenseful or thrilling. I really like this author and read all of his novels but this one was bit of a despondent
