If it were just overly long and pretentious, I would have rated it higher. (As others have asked - has anyone sat through the whole movie without checking his or her watch repeatedly to see how much longer it would go on?) But, on top of that, the final 45 minutes of the film are is disjointed, engendering numerous articles to “explain the ending of Tar” - and it’s never a good sign when people don’t understand a movie and cannot agree on what message the director intended to deliver. While the movie had excellent actors and a few engaging moments, at the end, you feel that you wasted 3 hours of valuable time.

While the concept of a multiverse, with infinite possibilities and variations on every timeline, is intriguing, most of this movie is noise and personal combat for the sake of noise and action. While some superfluous action and violence often adds a bit of excitement to a movie, when that becomes the majority of the movie - not truly advancing the plot, but included only for special effects and to lengthen the movie - it begins to get predictable, boring, and annoying. Perhaps if the movie had been cut 1/3 shorter I may have given it a better review - but the endless fighting and chaos became unendurable.

The entire premise of this show is unbelievable. First, a person still doing her fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery is a STUDENT - not board certified and not qualified to work independently, much less to become Chief of a hospital Department. The hospital administration would not allow it, much less State regulators who would shut down the division. Secondly, given the father’s expertise, there is no doctor who would dismiss his input into cases. While he might need to prove that he was physically healed and had the dexterity to operate, in discussing cases everyone would listen to his experience. Then, any doctor who cannot distinguish infectious vs marantic endocarditis and is unable to diagnose Lupus should have his/her license revoked. The quality of medicine is substandard, the plots are unbelievable, and the audience is asked to suspend all judgment in order to accept any of this.
