Beautifully filmed. A tear-jerking film at points. Held my interest throughout. The pillaged art of Europe would have remained hidden had the US and allied countries not pursued its return to the world’s greatest museums.

Certainly a different take on an iconic doll—and what it has represented to millions of young girls for decades. (I was one of them.) The strong ending compensates for some of the thin scenes early in the film and those involving corporate America. It’s a good film. In my view, not a great one. My thinking is that it will be recognized with at least a couple Oscars—likely not in acting, though.

Excellent film. Superb acting. Beautifully shot. Gripping. Not a comedy.
